Flowers Worth Visiting

Summer in the Midwest has a different rhythm than the desert. Instead of watching animals gather around water, I found myself watching flowers. From chives and passionflowers to goldenrod, each bloom attracted a different visitor. Some stayed only a few seconds, others lingered, but together they turned an ordinary backyard into a busy little ecosystem.
